Relocating to the midwest
Sunset Just short of two years after leaving Independence, MO, for what I imagined would be my last move, I have relocated to a new neighborhood that's pretty close to the old neighborhood. Several weeks ago I conceded to Tucson's unrelenting (and in my case, unhealthy) heat and departed the desert southwest to return to the midwest. I left Tucson three days after the first day of spring; the temperature was already 98 degrees at 10:30 a.m. and was expected to continue to rise. Having slogged through two years of brutal heat, I knew I was doing the right thing by saying farewell to those sunny blue skies. I've moved into a house in Lawrence, KS, about 35 miles west of the Kansas City metropolitan area.
